These Sith are just out to kill, and that's something that might actually end up mattering to everyone if the Exile doesn't succeed in holding them back. In Carth's mind, the ideals of the Republic are everything, and he's got that "we're better than them and we have to act like it even if we have to suffer for it" thing going in spades. They find themselves… or find themselves lacking. For example it does this whole sequence where it judges you for all of the combat that you engage in and how it doesn’t exactly align to the Jedi code.
With companions in mind… it might have been a better call to go to Nar Shaddaa first given that you would encounter one of the last core companions earlier.
